Tshwane, 12 February 2015 – The City of Tshwane’s licensing centres have been experiencing an unprecedented increase in volumes of people who apply for either driver’s licences or professional permits. This leads to long queues at our centres and frustration on the part of applicants.
Many applicants are not from Tshwane but from neighbouring municipalities, and even other provinces. As a result, our staff cannot cope with the volumes, given that they are committed to delivering quality service to the public.
To address the backlogs and continue rendering quality service the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department has decided to extend its licensing services to Saturdays.
The Centurion, Waltloo and Akasia Licensing Centres will be open on Saturdays from 08:00 to 13:00 to assist clients who need to renew their driver’s licences and professional driving permits. This is an interim service and will start on 14 February 2015.
Clients are required to make an appointment by sending requests to dlr@tshwane.gov.za or calling 012 358 9999. An additional booking amount of R280,00 will be payable over and above the legislated fees.
