Famous Hammanskraal musician, well known for his colourful suits and high kicks in the air, Dr Malinga wants his money back from rapper Cassper Nyovest.
This comes after the “Gusheshe” hit maker disappeared on the weekend of 6 June 2015 at Temba Stadium, where he was booked by Dr Malinga’s new record company called Lingas Entertainment.
Over 5000 excited supporters flooded the stadium, waiting to be entertained by Nyovest, who decided to not grace the stage with his presence, giving an excuse that the reason for his disappearance was due to the lack of parking at the stadium that night. This event was an important event for Malinga, as it was to launch the Dr Malinga Foundation, his new record label and his new range of Dr Malinga suits.
Dr Malinga was infuriated, as great artists such as AKA, Ganyani and Oskido managed to get in and perform on the night, while Nyovest gave excuses. When Dr Malinga finally got hold of Nyovest on the phone, he told Malinga that he would take R5000 from the amount of R25000 paid to him by Dr Malinga, for transport charges.
Nyovest was scheduled to perform at midnight, and Malinga feels offended as he feels that the rapper treated him as though he was some charity case, when Malinga had paid him.
The rapper has taken to twitter news about this, saying “Got to Themba Stadium and called the organisers for an hour, and none answered. After being stuck, we had to leave for our next show”. Dr Malinga dismisses Nyovest’s excuse, as the artists set to perform on the night were given alternative contacts of the relevant organisers to call.
This issue hit home, as the town of Hammanskraal is the the hometown of the colourful musician, Dr Malinga, who was overwhelmed at the event as his people came in numbers to support his growth, and instead, tarnished the name of Cassper, saying that whoever wants to sabotage Malinga would not succeed. The kasi festival event went well and the residents of Hammanskraal had a great night, despite the stunt that Nyovest pulled. But Dr Malinga still wants his money back!
