The City of Tshwane will lead a march against human trafficking on World Day against Human Trafficking in Persons on 30 July 2015.
The march will start at 08h00 from the Pretoria Art Museum in Wessels and Park Street in Arcadia and end at Jubilee Park in Sunnyside.
The Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Health and Social Department, Councillor Eluanda Mabusela will lead the march.
Hosted under the theme ‘Be Alert, Be Involved and Be Responsible,’ the event is supported by the Department of Home Affairs, the University of Pretoria, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, the South African Police Services, Mercy House and other Non-Governmental Organisations
Media Director at City of Tswhane, Mr Lindela Mashigo in a statement said trafficking in persons is a horrendous crime and the purpose of this event is to create awareness and highlight the plight of millions of women, men and children who fall victims of trafficking every day.
“The City of Tshwane aims to take the lead to eradicate this criminality and to promote as well as protect the rights of the victims of this crime” he said.
