North West FM, having just launched its 103,9FM frequency in Garankuwa that gives coverage to residents of NW IN Moretele, will broadcast live from the Mamelodi Moretele Park Tribute Concert.

Fresh from playing a major role to help sell-out the Joyous Celebration leg of the North West tour at Sun City Superbowl, North West FM continues to put its money where its mouth is as far as support for South African and African music is concerned. North West FM has thrown its weight behind the Tribute Concert staged annually at Moretele Park in Mamelodi, east of Pretoria. The partnership is in line with the station’s unflinching and solid support of South African music that is most prominently and totally displayed during the Proudly South African Music Thursday’s where only local music is played at the station. Thursday’s special programming is in addition to the consistent support of South African music throughout the stations normal programming. “The partnership with the Tribute Concert is not just for the sake of partnership or for narrow selfish reasons. As station that prides itself as the home of the best South African and African music, our intention is to play a significant role in alerting more people within our broadcast area about this massive proudly South African festival promoting our identity and preserving our music heritage. We are fully conscious of the fact that the more people are exposed to great African music is there easier they will support and consume it thereby opening up and increasing employment and wealth creation opportunities among ourselves as Africans,” said David Mabusela, North West FM’s station manager.
Confirmed artists for the Tribute Concert 2015 include Caiphus Semenya, Oliver Mtukudzi from Zimbabwe, Kanda Bongo Man from DRC, Bhudaza from Lesotho, Mango Groove, Vusi Mahlasela, Thandiswa Mazwai, The Soil, Mzwakhe Mbuli, Black Motion, Afrotraction, Tshwane Bands, Puisano Artists. The concert is on Saturday, 29 August 2015 at Moretele Park in Mamelodi, Pretoria.
