The City of Tshwane has apologized for the lack of water in Temba and surrounding areas over the past weekend and promised that water should be restored by today at 13:00

The City said the Temba Water Treatment Plant has not been able to supply water to Temba and surrounding areas since Friday, 4 September 2015 due to blocked water filters at the plant.
The blockage was a result of heavy rains that washed a lot of mud down the Apies River into Leeukraal Dam, whose muddy water reached the plant and clogged all the sand filters. This in turn affected the water quality and pumping capacity at the plant.
Media Rleations Director at the City, Mr Lindela Mashigo, said the City’s team has been working on this problem since Friday to ensure that the plant is restored to full pumping capacity.
“The filters have now been cleaned and we have already started to purify the water. Restoration was delayed by multiple electricity cut-offs on Friday evening and Sunday night while the team was working at the plant, but the dams should be full by today,” he said.
He said the City has arranged roaming trucks with water tankers for Temba and Hammanskraal and has also stationed tankers at Jubilee Mall and Jubilee Hospital.
Affected areas included Temba, Kudube, Steve Bikoville, Stinkwater, New Eersterust, Moretele LM and Klipdrift.
