The disciplinary proceedings against the Tshwane Bus Services (TBS) drivers and other employees that participated in an unprotected strike early October got underway today which will disrupt bus services.
Media Director at City of Tshwane, Mr Lindela Mashigo said given the planned sitting of the hearing, it is anticipated that there might be an unplanned disruption of the bus service on the day, therefore, commuters are advised to make alternative transport arrangements.
The drivers and employees that had engaged in an unprotected strike were served with notices of intention to suspend on Monday October 19, 2015. In addition, charges were preferred against them and the disciplinary process is scheduled to start today. “The City embarked on the disciplinary process in order to send a loud and clear message that acts of ill-discipline by its employees will not be tolerated,” Mr Mashigo said. He said the full bus service will be restored as soon as the disciplinary process has been completed.
The management of the City encourages all other drivers of the TBS to maintain the upright behaviour and continue to value the service that is rendered to our commuters.
