With a motive of sharing the knowledge regarding the challenges affecting the nation, the Ramotse My Home (RMH) NPO commemorated the World Aids Day on 5 December 2015 at Bacerlona Park in Ramotse.

The NPO observed the day by empowering the community with life skills over and above challenges brought about by the HIV and AIDS pandemic.
Ramotse Clinic, one of the participating organisations, provided the community with information on fighting the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS and support on dealing with diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol. The community was also given support on financial intelligence by Lifeline.
“As a community we have seen how people are discriminated against because of their HIV and AIDS status and we want to teach people to lead positive lives and be open about their problems.
“We have seen our youth commit suicide and we wanted to say, it is good to talk and that is why we have brought counsellors on the different subjects, be it finance, marriage, domestic violence and abusive relationships,” said Amaleah Mbewe, Public Relation Officer of RMH.
She said RMH was proud of this event as it was their first event since they launched the NPO. The NPO was formed this year in June and officially launched in October 2015. It is formed by community members who are affected by lack of development in the area who have resolved to be the agents of change. During Mandela Day in July this year they painted 15 classrooms at Lebelo Primary School in the area and planted 50 trees in five local schools.
Ms Mbewe said she hoped in future community members will attend in numbers so that they can be provided with life skills to improve their lives.
Participating organisation at the event were Lifeline, Ramotse Clinic, Modimoomatla, a local NGO from the Department of Health and a local community radio station, Moretele Community Radio.
