Readathon to be celebrated as part of Heritage

As part of the Heritage month celebrations, a Readathon session aimed at promoting and cultivating the culture of reading among residents will be hosted by the City of Tswhane at Nellmapius Multipurpose Sports Complex. The event will take place tomorrow Friday 23 September 2016, at Stand No: 4146 from 10:00 in the morning.

The adopted theme for this session is Reading is an adventure and about 500 people, mostly learners from various schools around the city, are expected to attend the celebration.

The session stems from the Readathon Day which is celebrated annually and affords mostl
y learners an opportunity to demonstrate their reading proficiency. The event also happenreadthon2s under the auspices of other commendable programmes such as National Book Week, International Literacy Day and the Heritage activities. Most of the socio–political heritage collections from both the City and the National Library of South Africa will be displayed and presentations will be made on them.

The event will also see the establishment of heritage corners in all libraries within the city where indigenous and heritage collections will be displayed for the public to see and read.
