Cable theft at the Rooiwal Waste Water Treatment Plant has led to water being contaminated in Temba. The City of Tshwane’s Water and Sanitation Department said it has done an emergency shut-down of the Temba Water Treatment Plant due to the water contamination from a raw polluted water source. The contamination is so severe that the plant will remain temporarily shut-down until further notice.

The affected areas are Stinkwater, Dilopye, Eersterust, Temba, Babelegi Industries, Marokolong,   Ramotse, Majaneng, Mandela Village, Sekampaneng and Hammanskraal.

Tshwane City said residents will be supplied with water during this period by roaming water tankers.

Only now you deciding to act, this has been happening for way longer,i is unacceptable, and some of those tankers don't even reach some neighborhoods. I guess Hammanskraal is not a priority when, unlike Soweto..

When are we gonna have proper water?? Why is our water so different from the water in town, mabopane, soshanguve, garankuwa, etc??? Is our money different? Don't we deserve clean water? Do people really need to lose their lives at Jubilee before we get clean water?

The water tankers came once to us.... what are we supposed to drink? To bath with? We can't even go to the toilet or cook, yet we pay every month.
