Tshwane Metro Police mourns yet another police officer gunned down, Constable Eddy Solly Bokaba.

The Tshwane Metro Police Department has confirmed that Constable Eddy Solly Bokaba was gunned down last night. “The Tshwane Metro Police Department is still in shock by the brutal murder of the 27 year old hard working and dedicated officer who only joined the force in 2012 and was part of the cable theft team,” said Spokesperson for the Tshwane Metro Police, Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

He said the officer knocked off duty last night 02 January 2017 around 23h00 and picked up a friend and was travelling to the friend’s place. When he arrived there, he noticed a VW Polo Vehicle approaching them. He went out of his vehicle to ask what they wanted, one person from the Polo came out and without a word he pulled out a firearm and shot at him. It is not known how many people were in the VW vehicle.
Constable Bokaba died on the scene. The motive for the murder is not yet known and the Police are still investigating.

Senior Superintendent Mahamba extended condolences to the family of Constable Bokaba and his family and friends. “We plead to the members of the public who might have any information regarding this incident to contact the nearest police station or TMPD at 012 358 7095/6,” he said.
