At 55 she is going strong and proud of her brick making work

As old as she is, she is at work Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 16:00 pm. She says she enjoys her work and she has no health problems, even though people look down on her for the work she does, she is not discouraged because this is what puts food on the table.

Ms Johanna Mashaba, is a 55 years old woman from Suurman in Hammanskraal and works at Machenesa Bricks at Sekampaneng.

Koko Mashaba is not discouraged by those who look down on her. Ms Mashaba said she decided to take her own path to do the work that is regarded odd for women to do, and she has been at it for the past two years with his son Frank Mashaba.

His son said he has no difficulty working with his mother. “Working with my mother has advantages because we save on transport money and we get along well because of the trust between us on almost everything, “he said.
