Residents of Temba are warned to be on the lookout for a bogus prophet driving in a white Polo Vivo robbing women of their electronic devises.
One of the women from Rockville in Temba who fell victim to the hoax of the bogus prophet said she was robbed last week Wednesday.
The bogus prophet is said to be using false prophecy to hoax residents and rob them of electronic devises. The bogus prophet who is working with another man who is alleged to be wearing a South African National Defense Force (SANDF) badge on his neck, tricked the lady to collect all her electronic devices from her home and robbed her of the devices.
The victim said she was prophesied to by the old man who later asked her if she has a laptop or any electronic devices. She said she was then tricked to go home and collect a laptop, phone and tablet that belonged to her sister in-law.
After she had collected the gadgets the two men drove with her to Temba City shopping mall in a white Polo VW Vivo and on their arrival at Temba City, the prophet asked her and the other man wearing the SANDF badge to go and buy orange juice which is going to be used as material needed to solve her problems.
Upon their return from the shop, the Polo VW and the bogus prophet were nowhere to be found with the electronic gadgets. The victim then parted ways with the other man with the SNDF badge unsuspecting.
Upon relating her story to neighbors, it occurred that she was not the only one who was hoaxed. Three other women were allegedly deceived and robbed of electronic gadgets using the same modus operandi.
The victim said she has reported the matter to the police and she has a lead. She said she suspects the bogus prophet is from Limpopo as he speaks proper sePedi. She said she has also been tipped off that the bogus prophet lives in Temba at the back street of Temba Police Station.
The bogus prophet is said to be short, with broad shoulders and he wears spectacles and a ZCC batch and drives a white Polo VW.
