A rehabilitation centre for nyaope addicts will be built in Temba by the A Re Tsogeng Unemployment Forum. The organisation will also build a centre that will cater for projects for the elderly of Temba and surrounding areas.
A Re Tsogeng Unemployment Forum offices are in Temba Rockville next to the Social Workers offices and they are working on developing three old age homes in ward 74 and one rehabilitation centre in unit 7. The organisation said their target is to open their centres by next year March.
They will undergo the procedure of registering addicts before taking them in for a rehave programme. “Addicts will undergo physical training to test if they are willing to be helped and to ensure that they do not relapse,” said Thabang Mkhize of A Re Tsogeng Unemployment Forum.
After going through physical training, the first batch of thirty addicts will be taken in to get into the rehab programme. Those who wish to register can go to the organisation’s offices.
Mr Mkhize said their main worry is what will happen to the addicts after rehab because of the high unemployment rate.
