Concerned community members have taken matters into their hands to fix water leaking pipes which have been leaking for almost a week in Hammanskraal in Skampaneng.
The residents, Mr Joe Phetlhi (62) and Peter Nkanyana (34) said they saw a need to fix the water pipes to save water and because the municipality is doing nothing about it.
“We can’t complain to anyone, we have to do it for ourselves because at the end of the day we are the ones that suffers from water crisis,” said Mr Phetlhi
The two said they are fixing the pipes because they are afraid water will run dry from their taps.
He said he has even bought a water tank because he is afraid of what might happen in the future.
Water has been a serious issue in Hammanskaal and these residents believes that they also have a part to play as a community and try reducing this crisis.
“We don’t want more water to be wasted so we have to do it ourselves,”said Mr Nkanyana.
