Students of the University of Johannesburg visited Tshwaraganang Community Development for Orphans in Hammanskraal Tambo on Saturday to donate blankets, books, clothes and food parcels.
The students spent the whole day with the kids, chatted with them, prepared breakfast and lunch, and after that they played games and sung a Mother’s day song with them for the mommies that takes care of them at the Orphanage.
Judas Khoza, a student and the organizer of this event said “We want to change the mentality of a black child to say success is not determined by where you are, but where you going and we also want to say that the blankets and books that we have donated should make a difference in their lives”.
Another student, Angelic Molife added by saying the plan is to continue and never stop now, now that we have started we want to reach as many children as we can and change a live of a black child.
The Tshwaranang family expressed their gratitude through the assistant manager, Pitty Mamabulo saying” we are very happy to see students doing such a great thing it’s not something that happens every day, what they have donated to us are the basic needs that we all need every day to live”.
The kids will be warm the whole of this winter with the blankets and clothes donated by UJ students.
