The remains of businessman, Sean Motlhatlhedi, were laid to rest at Bosplaas Cemetry on Saturday 15 July 2017.
Hundreds of mourners gathered from early morning including his social club members in their social club regalia at his home in Temba, Manyeleti to pay their last respects.
Mourners had driven from as far as Johannesburg to attend the service including his childhood friend, Joey Ntlatledi, who described Sean’s shooting as cold, inhuman and devastating.
“Sean’s death brought nothing but heartache to me as we were like twin brothers. We have been robbed off a good man who provided for his family and cared for those around him,” said Mr Ntlatledi.
Sean was shot on the evening of Sunday 09th of July 2017 at a famous local pub called Leplankeng in Temba. He visited the pub with his social club members after he hosted them at his home on the same day.
It is alleged that at the time of his shooting, he went out of the pub yard to answer his phone when the killer who then fled the scene shot him.
Speakers at the funeral service spoke of how they have lost a provider, a father, a man who brought his family together and who loved his kids equally.
Sean’s sister, Ms Monica Motlhatlhedi, said the family was devastated when they were woken up by a call from their neighbours on the night he was allegedly murdered to tell them the disturbing news.
“After the neighbour informed us that he was admitted to Jubilee Hospital, we rushed there and later he was transferred to George Mukhari as his gun wound was critical.
“On Tuesday the 11th July 2017 when we went to visit him, the doctor that was treating him informed us that Sean did not make it and that he had passed away at around 15:00.
“We have lost a pillar of strength for the family and we feel heartbroken and cheated because a human hand has stolen from us,” said Ms Motlhatlhedi.
Sean is survived by his wife, Winnie Motlhatlhedi, two sons, Boikanyo and Omolemo, two daughters, Vision and Ofentse, his mother Elsie, his sister Monica and two brothers Thabo and Philemon. He is also survived by his nieces, Khumo, Atlegang, Neo, Rethabile and nephew Bokang.
