The first Weekly Food Affair was held at Pat’s Garden Phola in Temba Hammanskraal on Saturday 19 August 2017. The Food Affair will benefit local chefs and food lovers and cut the cost of travelling long distances for community members to get a restaurant experience.

The Weekly Food Affair will be organised at Pat’s Garden Phola during weekends and the organisers are asking the community of Temba to support them by coming to have their family breakfast, lunch or supper.

Food Affair is a cooking business that is an equivalent of a restaurant that gives culinary lovers a chance to display their cooking talent and grow their business in one venue where people come for breakfast, lunch or supper.

The organisers of Food Affair, Mr Tiisetso Moeng, Patric Mohlala and Ms Solofelo Thobejane said they saw a gap in the community because community members go as far as Pretoria for a restaurant experience.

“We want to stop this norm of community members travelling long distances money on businesses that do not even give back to our communities.

“This will also help with creating job opportunities for those who love the cooking business and do not have opportunities to start their own businesses.

“Our local Dj’s who are denied platforms at local entertainment places will be given slots to entertain guests at the Food Affairs events.” Said Mr Moeng.

MsThobejane, who holds a degree in journalism and loves cooking, said this would help food lovers to access high-class food in their own background. Culinary lovers will be centralised to cook sophisticated food such as seafood and traditional food such as skopo.

”Food lovers will be treated with a chance to order whatever they like as long as we have the ingredients, we will prepare that dish for them.

“We are hoping to attract the community of Temba to this venue every weekend to support our local small businesses.” Said Ms Thobejane.
