Police requesting the community to remove the stones from the road

Makapanstad Members of ward 17 revealed their frustrations as they attempted to close down the main road from Makapanstad to Mathibestad on Friday 25th August 2017 because of the municipality trucks not delivering water in their various water stations.

Members of the community who were few in numbers, got together to get the attention of the water truck drivers but the water trucks kept passing them without giving them any attention until they took stones and tree branches to block the road.

The people of ward 17 were angry and irritated because they were not taken into consideration during this water crisis.

“It has been three months since the water trucks delivered water in our stations, and it saddens us to see the trucks delivering water in other parts of Makapanstad yet we have to go to Smile Street to fetch water with wheelbarrows,” said Klienbooi , a community member.

Just after 20 minutes of closing down the road with stones, the police arrived at the scene and asked the members to remove the dirt on the road because it was causing a traffic jam.

The ward 17 members yelled at the Police for trying to stop their attempt to get water delivered in their stations and said It is not the first time the community had tried to alert the municipality about the water crisis but the situation is instead getting worse.

Attempts to get comments from the municipality were unsuccessful.
