Loyal supporters of MFM waited the whole day for the event to start until it was cancelled

Spring did not start so well for the Monate Fontein Market (MFM) entrepreneurs and followers due to a disappointing market day at Dipitseng in Pankop.

The event was scheduled to start at 14:00 on Saturday 2nd of September 2017, a day well known for its celebrations across the country as people welcome spring. The event ended up nearly kicking off at around 17:00 and was finally cancelled.

First the music system did not arrive and shortly after the arrival of the music system and everything was looking set to start, a person was hit by a car in a hit-and-run situation just outside the venue.

The event had to be called off after this incident as it further dampened the spirit.

The event envisaged to be a success similar to the past five events hosted by MFM that attracts people from as far as Mmametlhake, Phake and Pankop.

Timothy Malope, Director at Monate Fontein, said the sound people let them down and when they were about to start, the unfortunate hit-and-run situation outside the venue forced them to postpone the event.
