Three men, Johannes Makhamisane (30), Johannes Ndaba (30) and TankisoMetsi (26) from Tembisa were today sentenced to two-life sentences by Judge Gura at Moretele Magistrate Court for the murder of Mr Sfiso Vilakazi and Ms Kgomotso Pila.

The three kidnapped Vilakazi and Pila from Tembisa and drove with them to Hammanskraal to kill them by cutting their throats with a broken bottle before dumping their bodies in Ga-Mokone cemetery in Stinkwater near Hammankraal on the 6th of December 2015.

Mr David Vilakazi the father of Sfiso Vilakazi was emotional during his testimony and said, “I cry because it was the first time my son slept outside home and it was his last day on earth.”

After the sentencing, Mr David Vilakazi, said he was satisfied with the sentencing although that cannot bring his son back.

Mr Phuthi Pila, the father of Kgomotso Pila, said his daughter was killed like a dog on her birthday and the offenders did not show any remorse.

“I am happy with the sentence, I think justice has been served, maybe I will sleep peacefully from today knowing that the killers of my daughter are locked up for good,” he added.

The offenders were arrested on the 13th of February and others on 21 March 2016 for charges that included robbery, kidnapping and possession of unlicensed firearm.

They were found guilty of a total of seven crimes and were all given an equal sentence of two life sentences.

Both families ululated after the court handed out judgement.
