Unica Iron and Steel Company, an organisation operating in Hamaanskraal, Babelegi recently donated groceries to three NGOs in the area.
UNICA sales manager, Nico Pokani, said his entity decided to give back to the poor people in their communities. “We wanted to give back to the community so we identified people who are struggling in the area and we gave back,” Pokani said.
He said Unica had donated groceries worth R5000 to each of the NGOs, for three months now and would continue doing so in future. “We will continue to support the needy while we are here because we are going through tough economic times and they need our support,” he said.
Owner of Odirile Centre for persons with mental and physical disabilities, Elizabeth Maphosa expressed her gratitude towards the donation of groceries.

“Receiving this donation has made a huge impact on my kids. I’m speechless because there are not enough businesses who acknowledge us and out of all these NGOs, Unica saw us as their beneficiary,” said Maphosa.
Odirile Centre for persons with mental and physical disabilities has 64 patients and 54 staff members.
Tshwaraganang Children’s Home Director Catherine Sepato said she was pleased with the donations, and was grateful to Unica. “They gave us sun flower oils, soaps, mealie meal, peanut butter, salt, milk, tinned food, rice and mutton. We currently have 36 children, some are orphans, some are abused victims and some were neglected, this will go a long way in helping them,” Sepato said.
