Three men aged between 27 and 34 were arrested this morning at around 03:00 at Leboneng in Temba after hijacking a vehicle last night in Maubane village at around 21:30.

It is alleged that two male victims were sitting inside a white Mazda 323 when two unknown men knocked on their window. One suspect pointed a firearm at them, opened the door, ordered them to get out of the car and to take their cell phones out. The three then drove off with the car.

The victims came across the suspects at a tavern in Leboneng Temba and allegedly assaulted them before calling the police. The hijacked victims however alleged that the community assaulted suspects.

The victims of the hijacking took the police to a house at Dilopye village where they found the car inside the garage already stripped off its parts. The suspects allegedly said they sold the parts in Soshanguve.

Spokesperson of Temba Saps, Constable Herman Moremi, said all three suspects were detained and taken to hospital with serious injuries under police guard. They will appear at Moretele Magistrate Court after they are discharged from hospital to face charges of hijacking. The firearm was not recovered.
