The police arrested four people on Saturday in Kanana Hammanskraal for public violence after a section of the community protested for not receiving title deeds while another section received theirs.

The protesting community members chased out the Tshwane MMC for Housing and Human Settlement, Mr Mandla Nkomo, after he handed members of ward 49 with 705 title deeds.

The resident of Ward 49 received their title deeds with jubilation after their 4 years long waiting, but finally patience paid off.

Tshwane Housing MMC, Mr Mandla Nkomo was chased out of Kanana by disgruntled residents who did not receive title deeds

MMC Nkomo urged residents to take care of the title deeds, “make copies of the title deeds and put them safe so that you don’t lose them because you will pay R6000 to replace them, “said Mr Nkomo

The MMC told the residents to stop renting or selling RDP houses to outsiders and continue to stay in shacks and then claim that the government has granted outsiders  RDP Houses.

Thembi Skhosane could not resist her excitement after receiving her title deed. “ I am very happy I received my title deed today,  I am going to sleep and rest knowing that I have a title deed that shows that I am a rightful owner of my house and no one can take it away from me” she said.
