The 36 year old Jonas Nthebe who left a letter under the pillow at his mother’s bedroom stating that there is a dead body in his room, handed himself to the police today at about 05:30.
The accused allegedly killed his girlfriend, Emma Skhosana, aged 32 last week Tuesday, and left a letter for his mother to check his bedroom before he fled. When his mother opened the door, she found the deceased underneath his bed with bruises on the neck, chin and elbow.
Talking from behind the holding cells, the accused said they had an argument before he strangled her until she fainted. He then went to the kitchen to boil water and came back. He alleged that the boiling water poured on the deceased accidentally on the neck and chin and that he wrote the letter and ran away.
He then decided to come back this morning to tell his mother to accompany him to the police station. He was crying when busy explaining the incident and telling how difficult it is to cope with it.
When handing himself in today, he was accompanied by his mother and brother.
He will appear at Moretele magistrate court soon facing charges of murder.
