Soccer tournament raise awareness on substance abuse and crime

A group of young people in Hammanskraal under the organization ‘Civic Duty Youth Desk, Untouchable Youth’ will host an under 19-soccer tournament to raise awareness on the abuse of drugs and doing crime.

A number of 16 teams will compete for R2 500 prize money and a soccer kit. The soccer tournament will be a two days tournament to be held on the 14th and the 15th of October.
On the 14th it will be held at Refilwe Sports Ground and on the 15th it will be completed at Mandela Stadium.

The tournament under the theme “KEEP YOUR DISTANCE FROM DRUGS AND CRIME” aims to educate local youth about the dangers of these social ills and to encourage them to abstain from drugs.

The chairperson of the Civic Duty Youth Desk Untouchable Youth, Mr Lucas Ndaba, said, “We want to raise awareness in the community, Hammanskraal is slowly turning into a drug hub, so this tournament is aiming to create awareness “.

Mr Ndaba said they will be working with the SAPS, Love Life and the SANCA to educate youth about the dangers of drugs and crime.

Mr Lucas Ndaba urge the people of Hammanskraal and the sponsors to support the event for it to be a success.
