Mmotla Street Patrollers build 55 year old a house

Mmotla Clinton Section Street Patrollers

The Mmotla Clintton Section Community Street Patrollers came to the rescue of a 55-year-old man by building him a house. The old man was staying alone in a shack that the Street Patrollers deemed dangerous as it could fall apart anytime.

The Chairperson of the Street Patrollers, Mr Mishack Malewa, said they identified the man who was living in dangerous situation and they decided to assist him before something bad happened to him.

Mr Malewa said the Street Patrollers mobilized the community to contribute to assist building a two roomed house with bricks for the old man. Some of them contributed window frames and door frames and it took only a week to complete the project.

Station commander of Temba SAPS Brigadier Page Dibetle, applauded the Street Patrollers who are assisting the police to fight crime and wished that other villages can copy what Mmotla Clinton section is doing. Mr Dibetle said the Mmotla Clinton Section is a good example to others and the station will continue to support them.

The project took only two weeks to complete

According to crime statistics of Temba SAPS, for the past three months no crime was reported at Clinton Section in Mmotla because of the Street Patrollers. They patrol during the night and sleep during the day. They have managed to buy reflectors to identify themselves and they escort those who are going to bus stops at the main road.
