Hammanskraal Portion 2 resident, Ms Sonja Harmse, died today after Jubilee Hospital sent her home even though she was vomiting blood. Jubilee Hospital sent her home on 4 September 2017 and she died this morning after four-weeks of agonizing pain.

Yesterday Ms Harmse was rushed to Steve Biko Hospital after Moretele Times arranged a donation for the family to take her to an alternative hospital as Jubilee Hospital had failed to respond to the cries of the family.

Moretele Times managed to get a donation for the family, yesterday so that Ms Harmse can be taken to an alternative hospital, but it was a little too late

Ms Harmse was sent home without being properly examined by Jubilee Hospital claiming that there were no beds to accommodate her even though she was critically ill.

Her worsening situation was brought to the attention of Moretele Times by her daughter yesterday and a Good Samaritan donated R1000 for her to get medical attention.

On arrival at Steve Biko Hospital, Ms Harmse was immediately admitted to the ICU for examination. A brain scan revealed that her brain has been bleeding and at 4:20 in the morning, Ms Harmse succumbed to her illness and died.

The family of Mrs Harmse just wanted to take their loved to receive treatment to save her life, but Jubilee Hospital failed them. They were even afraid to take her back to Jubilee Hospital because of the treatment she received the last time she was there and that she will be victimized for her daughter taking the story to the media.

Ms Angelique Harmse, daughter of Sonja, said after her Mother was admitted at Steve Biko yesterday, Doctors immediately put her on drips and ran a brain scan on her and it was found that she suffered a bleeding brain.

“The Hospital told us that we should have brought her sooner and that it was too late to save her,” said Angelique.

“I want Jubilee Hospital to tell me what they have done to my Mother, why they could not admit her and examine her to find out what was happening with her. They told me she had bleeding ulcers of which it is not what Steve Biko told us” Said Angelique.

Moretele Times tried to get hold of the CEO of Jubilee Hospital yesterday without success.

In the past two months, Moretele Times has also attempted to get answers from the  spokesperson of Gauteng MEC of Health, Ms Gwen Ramokgopa,  without success.
