The station manager of Moretele Community Radio, Mr Beeo Jabulani Ndo Kekana, was shot and killed today at about 17:00 at his Elanga East Lodge in Bosplaas/Hammanskraal.
According to source closer to Mr Kekana, staff members who were on duty at the lodge said
two men arrived at the lodge pretending to be looking for a room. They then allegedly forced the staff members on the floor at gunpoint and went to a room where Mr Kekana was resting and cornered him, tied his hands behind his back and shot him twice on the head.
The men then fled the scene without stealing anything from the lodge.
“During the hostage the phones of the staff members were confiscated but the perpetrators left them behind when fleeing the scene.
“The whole scenario just to show that they knew who they were looking for as they asked for him by his name,” the source said.
Constable Herman Moremi of Temba Police Station said Mr Kekana was confirmed dead on the scene and a case of murder has been opened. The motive for the killing is not known.
