The North West Provincial General Council (PGC) nominated Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma today at the Provincial Governing Council held at the Carousel Sun International in Hammanskraal.
The meeting was attended by ANC Secretary General, Mr Gwede Mantashe and ANC Provincial Chairman and Premier of North West, Supra Mahumapelo.

Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma received 291 nominations while Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa was nominated by 45 branches. Mpumalanga Premier, David Mabuza was preferred by 269 branches for the position of deputy president while for the position of ANC Chairperson, 284 branches preferred Nathi Mthethwa over ANC Secretary General, Gwede who was nominated by only 40 branches.
For the position of ANC Secretary General, the contestants were Ace Magashule who got 280 nominations and Senzo Mchunu with 35 nominations.
Branches also nominated Jessy Duarte as their preferred Deputy Secretary with 261 nomination while her contestant Phumullo Masualle only got 7 nominations.
For Treasure position, the province preferred Maite Nkoane-Mashabane as their candidate with 150 nominations against Nomvula Mokonyane with 147 nominations.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Mantashe said unity is needed for a successful National Conference that will be convened in the next two weeks to elect the new leadership of the ANC.
