Makgetse tops Hammanskraal matric results

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi congratulated Makgetse Headmaster, Ms Magdelin Kgotle, for making second place in the Tshwane Distric 3 matric results with a 95% pass rate

Makgetse secondary school reclaimed their position as the number one best performing secondary schools in Hammanskraal. The school has out shined Ratshepo and Sekhululekile high schools, that have been exchanging the accolades between them in the last five years by achieving 95.5% matric pass rates.

Six leaners who played a role on raising the Makgetse flag are, Koketso Mahlangu with 3 distinctions, Bethuel Marindi with 3 distinctions, Matlhare Kgothatso with 3 distinctions, Lucilee Mokhari with 3 distinctions, Tshegofatso Monareng with 5 distinctions and Botshelo Separate with 4 distinctions.

The  top ten best performing schools for the Tshwane District 3 are, Botse Botse Secondary with 96.4%, Makgetse 95.9%, Ratshepo 92.9%, Rakgotso 90.2%, Sikhululekile 93.9%, Sosha High 91.7%, Lethabong 88%, Adam Masebe 87.1%, Tipfuxeni 86.3%, Hosea Kekana 85.9% and Moditela 85.9%.

Makgetse Headmaster, Ms Magdelin Kgotle, said she is out of words to explain how excited she is to have achieved this milestone as many community members have written off the school.

“Team Makgetse has outdone itself because 2017 has been a tough year. We put in more effort and gave extra lessons to leaners who were not performing good to be where we are today.

“I am happy for all learners who dedicated their 2017 academic year to work hard and take us back to position one in our region,” said Ms Kgotle.

She said out of 265 learners that registered for matric, 47 of them could not seat to write some subject. The school managed to produce 100 Bachelors, 88 Diplomas, and 21 Higher Certificates.

The MEC of Gauteng Education, Mr Panyanza Lesufi, applauded the 25 township schools that produced 95% pass rates at an event held in Johannesburg yesterday.

“I am overwhelmed at how our township schools has performed and for them taking advantage of the resources that we have supplied. To those who did not make it, I want to say, there is always a second chance,” Mr Lesufi.
