A group of about eight armed men driving in a white Mercedes Benz and Audi A4 attacked a G4S cash in transit vehicle at around 16:00 today stealing an undisclosed amount of money. The incident happened at the R101 road at Carousel View settlement in Hammanskraal.
“It is alleged that the robbers started shooting at the G4S cash in transit vehicles almost a kilometre before the driver of the G4S lost control to the side of the road. The suspect took firearms from the security guards and damaged the vehicle with explosives before taking an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene,” said Captain Lesebana of Temba Police Station.
She said although 24 cartridges were found at the scene, no one was injured and a case of armed robbery has been opened with the police for further investigation.
