The Tshwane ‘All Tshwane Vat Alles Employees’’ will embark on a protest march tomorrow Friday, 26 January 2018 to complain about their job losses in the Employee Public Works Programme (EPWP).

The Vat Alles employees lost jobs in the EPWP programme after the City of Tshwane introduced the lottery system to ensure that the programme benefited all residents of Tshwane.

‘Vat Alles’ employees has accused the city of employing only DA affiliated members in the programme, an allegation that has been rebutted by the City.

In a statement, the Mayor of Tshwane, Mr Solly Msimanga said the system seeks to make sure that all residents of Tshwane benefit from the programme instead of only ANC members as it has allegedly been in the past.

The TMPD said the protest march tomorrow has been approved and he protestors are to move from Burgers Park, which is the gathering point, at 8h00 and proceed to the Tshwane House which is at corner of Lilian Ngoyi Street and Madiba Street.

From Burgers Park, they will get into Lilian Ngoyi Street and proceed straight passing the intersections of Visagie Street, Nana Sita Street, Francis Baard Street and Pretorius Street.

The marchers will then turn right to Madiba Street and proceed to the Tshwane House to handover their Memorandum. The marchers are expected to disperse from the Tshwane House at 13h00. Motorists are urged to avoid the above mentioned streets and use alternative routes.

The Tshwane Metropolitan Police Media Liaison Officer, Nonhlanhla Mgiba, said Tshwane Metro Police officers will be deployed to monitor the “All Tshwane Vat Alles Employees” march and all affected streets. Any unlawful activity will not be tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly.

He said the TMPD has also noted information doing the rounds about another protest action by African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) scheduled for Friday 26 January 2018.

“This alleged protest is said to be coming from various points within the jurisdiction of the City of Tshwane proceeding to the CBD of Pretoria. In respect of this march, no application was received from ANCYL as the law dictates, therefore, the publicized protest will be treated as illegal in the event it takes place as professed,”Mgiba said.

He said members of the public are encouraged to report any illegal activity at: 012 358 7095 / 6 or 012 358 2124.
