On Monday, 29 February 2018, the acting Executive Mayor, Cllr Darryl Moss, visited the Temba Water Purification Plant (TWPP) to check on progress being made.
The TWPP, which currently supplies 60 Mℓ/day, is being upgraded through the construction of a new 60 Mℓ/day conventional treatment works combined with a 120 Mℓ/ day advanced process plant that utilises ozone and granular activated carbon (GAC) filtration.
Work to complete the new water purification plant in Temba is also going ahead at full steam. This plant is expected to bring water to thousands of residents in areas in the north of Tshwane.
“We want to reduce our dependency on Rand Water,” said Cllr Moss during a visit to the plant, which will provide additional on-site storage and replace an existing raw water pipeline. Cllr Moss also said that modifications have been made to Kudube Dam, which included upgrading the raw water and high-lift pump stations.
The new and existing plants are to be integrated, with both plants operating on the same system.
