Government has started with the process of digital migration by installing satellite to community members earning less than R3500.

Residents of Ward 21 in Hammanskraal were the latest to benefit from this process following the implementation in other wards last year.

This is being done to meet the deadline of the digital migration by 2018 after which analogue will no longer work.

The community do not have to pay for the subscription for the satellite TV as it will be provided free and offers 11 channels including SABC, E-Toons, E-extra, E-Bella, E-Movies and Gauteng News.

Ward Committee Member, Mr John Butjie, said it is a good thing that is happening in the community because in the near future it will not be possible to access TV without the satellite.

Community members expressed happiness at receiving the service. Mr Ntsae Mfolo, a recipient, said, “I am happy that I will not have to use an aerial to get a clearer picture, I am really grateful”.
