The fire that is currently causing a lot of smoke at Dinokeng Game Reserve is at the Pride of Africa area of the game reserve.
It is still not clear what caused the fire but it was confirmed that it is not a controlled fire that is currently being contained.
“We don’t know what caused the fire yet but it was at Mongena, Pride of Africa, Hunters Pride, Phakam!, Didimala and if the winds continues it will soon spread to other areas, last night it burnt at other area in Dinokeng as well,”
‘What is also ironic is that one of the houses in the area that was reviewed on this morning on Ontbytsake Channel 145 was nearly burnt down by the fire,” said Marketing Manager at Ritsako, Ms Gwen Ncube.
Media reports earlier today sent out an alarm that the animals at the reserve are in trouble and requested members of the community with water tanks to assist.
