Nissan South Africa has dedicated itself to better the lives of its citizens by providing them with essential resources to make life easier and sustainable. On Thursday 27 September Nissan donated a fully functional borehole water system to a Mathudi day care centre in Hammanskraal.
Recently, water in Hammanskraal was suspected to have cholera due to number of residents ending up in hospital after drinking water. Water in Hammanskraal needs purification which leaves resident without portable water to drink. However the city of Tshwane has promised to install new purification technology.
Mathudi day care centre reached out to Nissan South Africa for assistance in getting finance which would enable them to purchase a much needed water tank. The centre caters for 52 children around Hammanskraal. Nissan conducted research and according to their findings they decided to donate a fully sustainable borehole system.
According to the Director of corporate Affairs at Nissan South Africa, Mr Wonga Mesatywa, water is a fundamental human-well being resource and that it is important for communities to have access to this vital resource.
“The installation of the borehole system will leave the centre with sufficiently supplied with clean water. Said Mestywa”
Martha Chauke Founder of Mathudi Day care Centre expressed her gratitude to Nissan for this gift of water.
“The community has been suffering with no access of water. Nissan has taken a bold step in assisting us with a fully functional borehole system, said Chauke.”
“Hygiene is very important and we are grateful for the assistance and hope that this is the first step in improving the lives of the learners concerned, she said.”
