A 71 year old man shot a 49 year old woman and thereafter shot himself at Mashimong section 5 in Temba. The incident happened at around 08:00 in the morning.
According to neighbors of the woman, the man arrived at the woman’s house this morning where an argument ensued. Neighbors said they heard the woman screaming for help as she ran out of the house which was followed by several gun shots outside the house.
Constable Herman Moremi of Temba SAPS Corporate Communications, said when the police arrived at the scene they found the woman at the gate with several bullet wounds on the lower body and the man was found at the corner of the house with a bullet wound on the upper body.
“The man was certified dead on the scene and the woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition,” Constable Moremi said.
He said the firearm that was used was found next to the deceased and a case of attempted murder and inquest has been opened for further investigation.
