Emmanuel Dlamini (26), is a local musician who is mostly known as Black Rose is a South African rapper, record producer and songwriter born and breed in Stinkwater, Hammanskraal.
Mr Dlamini said that he chose to follow a music career after he discovered that he has a talent for the hip hop culture.
“I grew up listening to hip hop and I was inspired by artists like Tupac but later discovered that it is not easy to get a breakthrough in the music industry because of the culture of established artists who allegedly purchase radio and TV spots.
He said what keeps him going is the perseverance, hard work and confidence that he has in himself.
“It is not easy to survive in the music industry because largely because musicians do not invest the money they make. Being an independent artist everything is dependent on you. You need to have a good bank balance and good business skill.
“What keeps me going is the perseverance, hard work and confidence that I have and right now I am in the studio recording some singles but I am planning an album,” he said.
He encouraged youth that wants to follow a music career to know their strength and weaknesses.
“You have to know your strength and weaknesses to push yourself, find your true passion for a certain career, love challenges and don’t give up easily on something that is in you or who you are,” he said.
