Fourty nine people were arrested by Temba police during operations that started yesterday night at 20:00 till 04:00 today morning. The neighboring stations including Hammanskraal, Rietgat, Loate and Dube were part of the operation together with the police Tasks team.
Constable Herman Moremi of Corporate Communications at Temba SAPS, said the people were arrested around Temba, Majaneng, Stinkwater and Eersterus and sorounding areas.
“They were arrested for public drinking, illegal gambling, and three were found in possession of dagga, and two were found operating after 02:00 in the morning.
“Those with petty crimes were given fine and released and suspects of dagga will appear at Moretele magistrate court on Monday.
“The police were also doing stop and search looking for firearms and dangerous weapons including stolen motor vehicles,” Constable Moremi said.
The station commander of Temba SAPS, Brigadier Martha Mokobori, applauded the members for cleaning the area and prevented crime so early in the year and for ensuring that citizens are safe and guarded through the night.
