Moretele Mayor donates shoes to primary schools

Mayor Monaheng with the children who received the shoes

Moretele Municipality Mayor, Mr Andries Mankita Monaheng, together with Max Prof, a company that deals with VAT reviews and gives back to the community through mayoral projects, decided to visit three primary schools to donate 35 schools shoes to each school.

The shoes were donated to Swarisanang Primary School, Makekeng Primary School and Lehabe Primary School. During the school visits, the Mayor and the team donated sanitary pads to the girl learners.

“The aim is to bring confidence to the learners because I myself know how it is like to go to school without shoes.

“When you don’t have shoes at school, you lose all the confidence which might lead to absenteeism because of fear of being mocked by other children,” the Mayor said.

Ms Pamela Pege from Max Prof said their responsibility is to work with the Mayor’s office to deliver on the project identified. When working on a project, we look at the quotations submitted by the municipality and search for our own quotations taking into consideration, the quality of what is being ordered, while making sure that those in need are catered for.

Lehabe Primary school principal, Miss Tsaka Manaka said “I am so happy for what the mayor did for us because as teachers we cannot cover all the needy children. We need assistance, the mayor has shown how much he cares for other people, I wish he continues with the good work.”
The Mayor and the team visited more schools also on the 19th of February 2020 to continue with the donations.
