Democratic Alliance (DA) Councilor Randall Williams has been elected as new Executive Mayor of City of Tshwane

The Democratic Alliance (DA)’s Randall Williams has been elected the new mayor of the City of Tshwane Mayor. Mr Williams is originally from the Cape Flats in Cape Town.

The appointment of the mayor comes after the courts reversed the provincial government’s decision to place the metro under administration and dissolve its council.

Among the things the new mayor claimed to aim to fix is making sure people have access to water, “especially in Hammanskraal,” fixing streetlights, fixing potholes and painting road markings.

His election comes eight months after the last gathering of the council, which has been under administration due to disagreements between political parties.

The city is governed by the DA through a coalition after all political parties failed to gain a majority vote during the 2016 local government elections.
