The late Cockrey Makama Laka was buried yesterday in Vontini at a funeral attended by friends and family.
Mr Laka was born on 03 February 1947 and was the sixth child of the late Mr Johannes and Magdaline Laka.
He married Mary Molatelo Letlape on 17 April 1974 and they were blessed with three children, Mannana, the late Nkele, and Dan.
He started school in Madibaneng Primary School and proceeded to Naledi Secondary School in Soweto.
He obtained his teaching Diploma at Moretele Teachers Training College and started working at Mmatsheko Primary School.
He then proceeded to teach at Tiisetso Primary School, Reneilwe Primary school, and was later appointed Principal at Phalesane Primary School.
Mr Laka left the teaching profession in 2008 due to ill health.
He is survived by his wife, children, Mannana, Dan, Rebotile Laka, and son-in-law, Andrew Tabane including grandchildren, Lesedi, Naledi, Onewang, Omphemetse, Oboikanyo, and Oboikago.
He will be missed by family and friends.
