An educational group, Progressive Students Movement (PSM), was established on 14 February 2016, at Living Waters in Hammanskraal, to represent learners in basic education.
The movement registered as a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) is aimed at addressing equality between private and public schools.
PSM Gauteng representative, Tebogo Mampane Sithole said the NPO recently introduced a back-to-school campaign, which was adopted in their last conference together with fellow representatives from other provinces.
The campaign was introduced to help disadvantaged learners with the necessary equipment to go back to school.
“We seek donations of school uniforms, shoes, and stationery to help sustain learners that are in need.
“We believe that it takes a village to raise a child and we as young people, businesses, politicians, and community members need to work together in making this happen,” he said.
He said the PSM president, Kabelo Nthekiso, asked all provincial leaderships to work hard on the project to help historically disadvantaged children to prosper.
