Two Hammanskraal Tennis Club players shine!

Tiisetso Mmekwa (14) and Tshepiso Mooka (14) were rewarded by the Hammanskraal Tennis Club for their commitment and dedication which resulted in their game improving a lot.

This is after the Hammanskraal Tennis Club participated at Gauteng North Mini 1 tournament held at different venues around Groenkloof last weekend.

Chairperson of the Hammanskraal Tennis Club, Mr Simon Tlhatlha, said the boys impressed the club by finishing positions eight and nine respectively on a draw of 16.

“Tshepiso won his opening and debut match against Dalain Gous 7-5-6-1, in an incredible display of the game. Mmekwa also raised his hand after looking at his opening match very close and redeemed himself by winning the rest of the matches, claiming position nine,” he said.

In other matches, Reorapetse Mangwane (boy 16) a very tricky and skillful left-handed player, finished position nine with a draw of 16. He lost the first match and went on to win the three matches in what was his second tournament.

Mpho Phungwayo (16), seeded number four in the tournament, finished position three after narrowly losing the semi-finals to Jordan 6-3:5-7;11-9. He won the playoffs for position three on the draw of 16.

Eric Matjiane (boys 14) first year under 16, finished position five, a strong finish sending a strong message to seeded players at the tournament and under 16 seasoned players.

Oratile Ngobeni finished position four on the draw of 16 progressing very well. This is also Ngobeni’s first year under 14 and he is already taking the bull by its horns.

Ofentse Mphahlele finished position seven after an unfortunate loss in the second round of the main draw to a number two seed. Ofentse didn’t allow the kids to get to her, she stood up and dusted herself and finished high by winning her match against Annie Van Schalkwyk 6-2 6-2 to claim position seven.

Tshepang Maisela, first-year under 14, one of the top players started very well, eliminating one of the tournament favorites finished seed no eight on boys 14 Platinum section, which was good results.

Presencia Ndhlovu, Botshelo Moses, Mpho Jantjies, Mogomotsi Sekgobela, Lucas Chauke Chakra, and Tshepang Chaane, were also amongst the players that represented the club and did very well as well.

Mr Tlhatlha said Hammanskraal Tennis Club is very happy with the player’s performance and already back on the drawing board preparing players for their next tournament.
