Hammanskraal Tennis Club at ROG tournament held at Tuks

Hammanskraal Tennis Club participated at the Attridgeville Pro Kennex from 30 April 2021 to May 2021.  This happened last week at an action-packed weekend for the 15 Hammanskraal Tennis Club players who were in action.

Chairperson of Hammanskraal Tennis Club, Mr Simon Tlhatlha said Mogomotsi Sekgobela was paired with Kganya Marote and won girls under 14 doubles after defeating seeds no.1 Giles and Moodley 6-2:0-6:10-5 in the finals. It’s Mogomotsi Sekgobela second title in 2 weeks.

“She is gradually making her mark as a double specialist. Coach Tshepang Chaane paired with his fellow coach Tyron Mnguni to clinch the man’s doubles defeating Jeffery and Stanford with straight-set 6-3:6-3. This is the coaches leading by example.” He said.

Mr Tlhatlha said Nobile Kekana age 9 years finished position 2, Girls under 12, after a superb run. It was her first TSA tournament. She went in as an underdog and surprised many when she eliminated her fellow teammate and top seed Lwanene Zondi on her route to the finals.

“We are extremely happy about the progress and performance that Nqobile displayed. She comes up as a promising young girl” he said.

Mr Tlhatlha mentioned that Tiisetso Mmekwa, boys under 14, finished position 2 after losing to number 1 seed Irina Ramfu-Flader 6-2:6-2 in the finals. A stunning performance by Tiisetso Mmekwa and confidence booster to the next coming events.

“Tshepiso Mooka finished position 3 in the boys under 14. Mpho Jantjies paired up with teammate Mpho Phungwayo reached semi-finals of Boys under 16 and losing narrowly to De Jager and Rooskrantz 4-6, 6-0, 10-3” he said

Mr Tlhatlha said Oratile Ngobeni also raised his head paired up with Mahlohonolo Mohlala where they reached Boys under 14 Doubles semi-finals. Our boys under 12 also raised their hands where Tshireletso Mashaba paired up with teammate Itumeleng Moses also reached Boys under 12 Doubles semi-finals

“The other Hammanskraal players that players at the event Tshepang Tlhatlha who finished position 5 Boys under 16, Reorapetse Mangwane finished position 15 and Kutlwano Mphahlele who finished position 11” he said.

Mr Tlhatlha said the over all team performance was very satisfactory.

“We took 12 players ( our baby group) aged 5 to 11 to participate at the Red, Organge and Greed dot tournament on the 27th April at Tuks, our babies didn’t disappoint.” He said.

He added that Itumeleng Moses won the Boys Green dot ball section, he was a blazing fire during the tournament. Junior Mashaba won the Red dot group while his teammate Regomoditswe Nkhumise( Momoza) finished second in the Red dot group for age 5yrs to 7yrs.

“We are very proud of the team progress, our Coaches work tirelessly with these players and making sure they reach their goals. Thanks to all the coaches for the hard work they do with these kids, the club is growing on a daily basis and more starts are produced” he said.
