Hammanskraal water research progress report

Phase 1 of the upgrade and refurbishment of Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) is currently underway at 54% towards completion with completion expected in October 2021.

The City of Tshwane has in the current financial year has budgeted R124 million towards the conclusion of Phase 1 of the project.

When phase 1 is complete, it will result in an improved effluent discharge into the Apies River and this will also improve the Leeuwkraal Dam and the quality of water supplied into Temba Water Treatment Works which will give quality tap water for the residents.

The Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane, Mr Randall Williams met with Mr Herman Mashabaof Action SA to talk about the research report on the issue of the Hammanskraal water that is a long overdue issue that has resulted from failure from planning to maintain and expand water infrastructure.

Mayor Williams said he has made it his priority to attend to these matters and that is why they are working toward long-lasting solutions that include water infrastructure and capacity expansions.
