Five women aged between 18 and 22 were allegedly raped and allegedly robbed of their possessions and clothes and left naked at Bosplaas west next to Tshwane (Appies) river at 00:00 yesterday morning in the Boosplaas bushes.

Sergeant Herman Moremi of TEmba SAPS Corporate Communications said it is alleged that the women were from the tavern at Ramaphosa Village when an allegedly unknown vehicle with six men inside stopped near them and two men pointed them with firearms and instructed them to get inside the car.

“It is also alleged that the men drove with the women to Bosplaas bushes next to the Tshwane (Appies) river and four of the men allegedly raped them while two of the suspects were sitting in the car drinking. It is also alledged that the women were also robbed of their belongings including clothes and left naked.

“The women were later found by an unknown person next to the road who took them to the police station.

“The relief commander on duty arranged blankets from the cells to cover them and the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual offense Unit (FCS) member on standby attended to the incident,” he said.

Sargent Moremi said the victims were taken to the hospital and a case docket for rape and robbery was registered. The suspects are still unknown and the vehicle used was not clearly identified.

“Temba Police are investigating a case of rape and robbery,” he said.
