The Hammanskraal Sports Development hosted a soccer tournament during the past weekend at Thapelo Sports ground in Ramotse for boys and girls who are under 13 and 15 to show support and encourage Coaches and players.

The founder of Hammanskraal Sports Development, Mr Samuel Mashishi, partnered with UNICA Iron and Steel Company to host the event and the Sesane foundation also donated sanitary pads for the girl’s team.

Ten teams participated in the tournament and resulted in Marokolong FC 1-0 Liverpool FC for the under 13 boys team, Hamitown FC 3-2 Marokolong FC for under 15 girls, and Marokolong FC 3-1 Liverpool FC for under 15 boys.

Each winning team received gold medals and a prize of R1000 and the losing team got R500.

Mr Mashishi said the inspiration behind the Tournament is to show support and encourage Coaches and players to keep doing what they are doing and also the money will help Coaches to buy new soccer kits.

“I would like to see the Tournament running every year, my plan is to see our young one’s out of the street far from drugs and we can achieve this if we work together as a community.

With new sponsorships, we can keep our kids passionate about sport and continue with these tournaments” he said.
