The department of health began the roll-out of the vaccination of teenagers of ages 12-17 on 20 October 2021. This age group will be able to vaccinate with Pfizer which will be one dose per person.

Parental consent will not be required but it is recommended that parents should accompany their children when going to vaccinate. Children who are willing to vaccinate should bring their SA ID or birth certificate or if they have medical aid, they should bring their membership number.

The teenagers can register to vaccinate online or walk in at the nearest vaccination site. The department of health also says they will not introduce vaccination at school for now.
