The local Hammanskraal Dj, Mr Tebogo Hlongwane, has donated sanitary towels to young girls at Mosetlha Primary School, his former school, and the gesture has been welcomed by the school.
He recently requested community members to help him give back to the community by donating sanitary towels for unprivileged school girls after he realized the need to help young girls that are mostly afraid to talk to their parents about menstruation for fear of being judged.
“Some Parents tend to have a perception that when their girl children start menstruating it means they have started dating, this initiative is to make the girl child feel confident and know that there is nothing wrong with menstruations,” he said.
A teacher, Ms Grace Molokoe, said it is a great honor to see a former learner give back to his former school.
“As Mosetlha Primary School, we are grateful and blessed to have Tebogo, he saw the need to give back to his own community and we hope this is not the end of it, and may God bless him,” she said.
Mr Hlongwane said it is a noble thing to give back and he appreciates everyone who saw it in their heart to help him throughout the initiative.
“We would like to thank everyone who managed to donate sanitary pads to help needy school kids. It takes a village to raise a child, it is important to participate in such initiatives,” he added.
